Well, it’s over. The little series that could finally came to an end last night with a 2 hour season finale.
Now I am not going to try to summarize Fringe for you…go look it up if your are unfamiliar. But I will say this…Fringe was born when Sci-fi was at it’s peak on TV. Battlestar Galactica was kicking our assholes…Lost was redefining serialized TV. And then came Fringe in fall 2008.
It looked like something akin to the X-Files. The cast was full of experienced actors, especially John Noble who played Denethor in Peter Jackson’s “Return of the King.”
The season premiere started with an airline disaster, just like Lost. And from there it just got wonderfully weird…and it didn’t involve aliens like the X-Files.
And now it is over. They were given what few shows…especially on FOX…are allowed…a FINALE.
So Fringe, one of the new fully HD shows, is over. And unlike other serialized shows like The Prisoner, I don’t want to riot in the streets over the ending. It was fitting and it was good.
Long live Walter Bishop and Gene the cow. Fringe, I will miss you. And I am glad I canceled cable because I have no idea what to watch anymore.
X-files….was a fucking classic when it was produced and broadcast. Skully and Mulodor were the epitomy of awesomeness… I saw a few fringe episodes, was not impressed. It seems to me that too many shows try to ride the coatails of previous epic shows. There is very little out there n my opinion that even comes close to x-files.
The saddest thing I have seen in a while is what Chris Carter is up to. Go look it up on shittipedia…how the fuck did someone who literally sweated gold back in the 90′s end up doing fuck all for almost the next 15 years straight?
I have been watching his other show from back then, Millenium. It’s not a bad show either.
i will heck it out, but wil be prepared for disappointment…
If you are going to check out Fringe, about half-way through season 1 is where it picks up and stops trying to be the x-files. Millenium on the other hand is a bit of a slow burn…a cop show with psychic overtones and a heavy dose of the Book of Revelation meets Y2K.
I don’t understand why the Sci-fi network didn’t contact Chris Carter back in 2008..
